A degree is essential, but there are more requirements
DUBAI – Dubai’s jobseeker visit visa offers eligible foreign nationals a way to enter the emirate specifically to explore employment opportunities without having a host or sponsor in the UAE.
The single-entry visa is available for 60, 90 or 120 days, giving prospective applicants different options depending on the length of their job search.
But not everyone looking for work automatically qualifies. The visa has specific eligibility conditions covering professional skill levels, educational qualifications and financial guarantees. Applicants must also prepare the required documents before submitting their application.
Who qualifies?
To qualify for a visit visa for exploring job opportunities, applicants must meet the conditions set out under the UAE’s entry and residence regulations.
One route is open to applicants who fall within the first, second or third skill level under the professional classification of jobs used by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
There is also an education-based route for graduates of the top 500 universities in the world, according to the classification approved by the UAE Ministry of Education. Applicants using this route must have graduated within the previous two years.
In addition to meeting one of these eligibility routes, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
Applicants must also fulfil the prescribed financial guarantee requirement for the visa.
The eligibility rules mean that prospective job seekers should check their professional classification or educational background carefully before applying. Meeting the general objective of seeking employment in Dubai does not by itself establish eligibility for the visa.
Documents needed
Applicants must provide the documents required for the jobseeker visit visa as part of the application process.
The listed documents include a recent coloured photograph and a copy of the applicant’s passport.
Applicants must also provide their qualification certificate, which needs to be attested. The qualification document is particularly important because educational credentials form part of the eligibility requirements for the visa.

How to apply

The application is for one trip, and applicants can select a visa validity of 60, 90 or 120 days. The selected period determines the length of the permitted stay under the relevant visa conditions.
The jobseeker visa is designed to allow eligible foreigners to enter the UAE and explore employment opportunities without first having a host or sponsor in the country. It does not, however, mean that the visa holder can automatically start working. Once employment is secured, the individual must complete the applicable procedures and obtain the appropriate status required to work legally in the UAE.
